Chamber hears of benefits of PR

Edwards Harvey was invited to participate in a PR and Marketing Workshop organised by the Channel Chamber of Commerce in Folkestone. Account Director Jeff Sims was joined by freelance marketing consultant Roz Glick and Folkestone Herald journalist Chris Williams as guest speakers at the forum.

Owners and directors of nearly 30 businesses based in Shepway and Dover attended the event to learn about maximising their marketing and public relations activities in the year ahead. Jeff’s presentation included a beginner’s guide to PR, how to write an effective news release, generating positive coverage in consumer and trade press, using PR to help overcome negative media coverage and providing Ten Top Tips to achieving great public relations.

Manager Caroline Chambers said: “As one of the fastest-growing chambers of commerce in the UK, we organise regular events for members to help them make the most of their business opportunities. I find that managers of small to medium size companies often think that PR is only for the big boys but Jeff’s presentation made them aware that you don’t have to have mega marketing departments and huge budgets to achieve truly effective media coverage.”

  • Edwards Harvey offers a range of PR, crisis management and writing skills courses tailored to the individual training requirements of companies.
