Leeds Castle, near Maidstone, Kent, is
one of the country’s top ten historic houses attracting around 400,000 domestic and international visitors each year.
From 1983 to 2006, Edwards Harvey
provided the castle with an extensive public relations service involving all facets of the media at local, regional and national
levels.
Our team worked closely with
the castle’s marketing and management teams to promote all castle activities while maintaining and enhancing its enviable
reputation as a tourism
leader and major contributor to the economy of the South East.
Individual media campaigns were
devised for special events such as the world famous Open Air Concerts and the Leeds Castle Balloon and Vintage Car Weekend.
Parallel campaigns directed
at trade and specialist media were conducted to raise awareness of the castle as a tourist destination and to maintain the
high profile of the castle within the tourism sector.
These campaigns were supported
by media familiarisation visits to the castle and media hospitality at special events.
The Edwards Harvey team also
managed the production of the castle’s Open Air Concert glossy programme, regular Castle Times newsletter for
Privilege Pass Holders and Travel Trade Newsletter for travel and group organisers.
We have also prepared awards
entries for Leeds Castle, resulting in the
castle being voted the region’s top tourist destination and gaining an England
for Excellence accolade for its innovative website, which includes editorial written by the Edwards Harvey team.
Our staff were also involved
in the management of key talks at the castle between Prime Minister Tony Blair and Irish premier Bertie Aherne over the future
of Northern Ireland.
