An exciting new £100 million shopping centre in Kent's county town deserved a very special opening night.

That's why Land Securities came to Edwards Harvey to organise and run an event that the people of Maidstone would remember for many years to come.

Edwards Harvey launched the shopping centre with all the trappings of a Hollywood Premiere, literally giving shoppers the red carpet treatment and entertaining them with music and laughter.

Our staff 'dressed the set' with 8ft Oscar statues, a red carpet, a covered walkway, mock film cameras and spectacular blazing flambeaux while Hollywood superstar lookalikes mingled with the crowd and a swing band played classic tunes from Tinseltown's heyday.

Shoppers were offered mince pies, mulled wine and novelty gifts while, in Maidstone's museum, senior staff hosted a glitttering VIP reception, with drinks, canapes and a string quartet.

The event attracted significant media coverage, including a three and a half minute live feed during the local ITV evening news.
